1922 Mary Button belonged to a
generation long before our ‘throw away
culture’. If a pair of socks had a hole
in them she darned them, if a skirt
didn’t fit the waist band was altered.
Over the 84 years of her life Mary built
up a fabulous sewing collection
including old threads, thimbles and
buttons, colour sorted into old tins.
Nicola inherited this fabulous
collection hence the birth of the very
special Button Clutch. Mary (very aptly
Button actually was her surname) would
have been delighted to see her carefully
saved collection used on beautiful bags
and not just left sitting in a tin.
